Start Safari

  1. Close all Safari windows (obviously not shown here)
  2. Click the Safari menu
  3. Click Preferences...

  1. Click Advanced
  2. Check on "Show Develop menu in menu bar.
  3. Check red dot to close

Develop menu

The Develop menu appears in Safari. To delete only the items in cache:

  1. Click Empty Caches

Open a new Safari window and see if the problem is fixed.

Brute force: History

See if clearing only the cache works. Clear History... is a scorched Earth approach to fixing browsing issues.

  1. Click History menu
  2. Click Clear History

  1. Start with the least amount of time: "the last hour"

Open a new browser window. See if that fixed the problem.

  1. Keep working down the list. Keep closing and reopening a new window. Quit and reopen Safari.
